Building Classes

I think MSSC should build a consensus for developing two recommended classes at MSSC.  One should be a dinghy class and the other should be a cruiser.  Right now our racing is diluted across too many boat types. In each case the class selected should be easy for a novice to get into in terms of skill and cost.

Cllub

I tried to participate in the club race last Saturday. Two boats showed up, mine and a Flying Scott. The race was cancelled

Why don't we start promoting the club races more. Have one PRO who in charge of four spring races. He runs all of them and announces the results at a happy Hour after each race. Then we present the Spring Race series trophys at the Memorial Day Regatta.

Can we find an old lap top to program for calucating the race results? Maybe then we can get the results in a timely manner.

Or should we cancel the club races and concentrate on the regattas?

Using Web Site & Forum

Lets pass the word that the web site is in operation & needs more visits & more comments in the Forum section.
The group email to officers or to the membership is now working .
Maybe we need to send out an email to inform everyone.
If you read this let me know. Either in this forum or by email.
Rick glad you are using this forum to get a discussion started on Club Activities .

Cruises

Last Labor Day kathy and I took the cruise to nowhere. We started out Sat morning, sailed up to the bouys marking the Wheeler Lock entrance down to the mid channel marker and then tied up to the bouys in front of the club for lunch.

After lunch we swam and just relaxed until around 3 PM. Then we took another sail on the lake for 2 hours before retuning to the club for dinner. We spent the night and did the same thing Sunday.

Do you think some of the members might like to ease into cruising doing something like that?

Racing program

I would like to review our racing program with the aim of encouraging more participation. I think one way would be to promote the club races more and cut back on the regattas.

Then have a small social time after the club races instead of everyone heading home without even knowing the results.

I'd like your ideas on this subject

Kudos on Confederate Admiral's Regatta
